Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Elite Sport Scholar Award, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
- Required Language: English
- Eligible Countries: All world countries
- Athletic Requirements:
- Must be studying, or about to commence studying, at Cardiff Metropolitan University (any course).
- Must be competing in a recognized British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) sport and contribute to the University’s BUCS objectives.
- Must be competing at the international level or working towards the highest level in their sport (e.g., national/international/professional).
- Must be recommended by their NGB coach and/or the University’s coach in their sport.
- Must compete for Cardiff Met in BUCS competitions and represent Cardiff Met at open events.
- Must participate in promotion and marketing activities for the School of Sports and Health Science.
Additional Eligibility Points
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Cardiff Metropolitan University and possess a Student ID Card.
- Payment of the award in years 2 and 3 is subject to successful academic progression and sporting progress.
- Normally, no fourth year of the award, but exceptions may be made for specific programs.
- The award is not available to those re-sitting a whole year unless there are full mitigating circumstances.
- Must re-apply each year for the scholarship.
- Not available to students studying at franchise colleges.
- Cannot receive both the Elite Sport Scholar award and the Postgraduate Scholarship concurrently.
